Who Am I?
My name is Jacob Michael Carson, and I am a proud student at the University of Cincinnati. I am currently enrolled in the five year Bachelor of Science program for Environmental Engineering. I graduated from William Mason High School, a large school approximately a half-hour north of Cincinnati. I'm an only child who is very close to his parents, and his dog. Growing up I had a deep appreciation for nature and how we as humans share a mutual relationship with our planet. I love to hang out with friends, play games that either challenge me mentally or physically, and serve my community. In high school I was elected President of my school's Key Club and was involved in National Honor Society. I was also a part of Mason's Cross-Country team where I fell in love with running. During my senior year of high school I took a in-depth personality test that showed I have an "INTJ" personality test.
What Are My Passions?
When I was little the words "come down from there" seemed to echo relentlessly through our home. I would climb on everything: trees, cabinets, ledges, and even the roof. My parents learned that the best outlet for my love of climbing was to take me on hikes. This is where I believe my love of nature partly delves from because as I grew older I began to learn more about the woods, water, and animals that inhabited the area and how they help the humans around them. I realized that I wanted to protect the area that I called home.
When I'm not hiking, I love playing cards and strategy games with family and friends, spending endless hours playing video games, relentlessly researching an array of topics, distance running, playing with and raising dogs, and serving my community any way I can.
Passion for Service
I'm inspired by people who commit themselves to making the world a better place. While at UC, I've loved every minute of rolling up my sleeves beside people who are committed to leaving the world better than we found it. Whether we're taking action locally (empowering students from urban Hughes High School to create recycling solutions for local non-profit Happen Inc. for example) or globally (establishing connections with Botswana officials to organize sustainable water initiatives ) I get excited to think that we truly can engineer solutions to problems like climate change, and improving access to clean water and power.

What Are My Goals?
After hopefully graduating from the University of Cincinnati and the University Honors Program, I hope to establish a family and obtain a career that I'm passionate about, and that pushes me. After working throughout high school I learned that I wanted a career that would push me, and I could see my actions and hard work pay off. I would love it if my career had meaning beyond the fiscal side, where I left a greater impact on my community and world.
